Hello Fellow Senior Highs.. I think this may be the big news that the group has been waiting for.

 we are going to….

ALBERMARLE, NORTH CAROLINA this summer

departure : July 5th      return: July 12th

check out this letter to learn a little more:

Luiza,

Our community was once a thriving textile community.   Now most of the textile work has gone overseas in search of cheap labor.   Therefore, Stanly County has many uneducated residents who worked in textile mills for years, but now have no means of employment.    We have not diversified sufficiently to create employment for our unskilled workforce.   The largest employers in our county are the public school system and a non-profit hospital.  We are about 45 miles NE of Charlotte, NC which is a thriving city.   Some of our residents work in Charlotte and Charlotte is growing in our direction.   A number of social service agencies have emerged to meet the needs of the community.   Most recently, Homes of Hope has been created.   It is a transitional housing ministry for the homeless.   There is also an agency which operates a clothing closet, 2 soup kitchens and an assistance center.   There are many mental health needs in the community also which are being met by several agencies.

Ours is a lovely community and a wonderful place to raise a family.   It is a very community oriented area where faith and family are central to the fabric of our lives.

First Presbyterian Church is more than 100 years old and is located in the downtown area.   We have about 400 members and have always been on the cutting edge of outreach ministries in Albemarle.   Our membership is young and old and everywhere in between.   We have an increasing number of young families with children.

-Ms. Ayscue
